Gresil Lord of Impurity and Corruption, Duke of Nasagriam
The Duke Gresil is a close, narrow Fallen, whose pinched form is nearly always draped in more opulence than it seems it could comfortably bear. Layers of shimmering jewels, set in cunning metalwork, drape around his neck in a bulky mass. Gossamer Gehennan silks, carefully crafted and embroidered by a hundred Damned, are shaped into opulent clothing that layers his form. Every so often, the innermost layer of clothing or jewelry shreds and finally falls to dust, to be tossed aside while another outer layer is donned to take its place.
Duke Gresil is currently unplayed. If you
are interested in playing this Named character, contact Mammon on the MUSH.
Gresil is the Lord of the Maggot Fields (Gi-kken G'beor), as they make their home in the otherwise-useless Duchy of Nasagriam. Gresil's main abode when he is not visiting Mammon's Court in Tu'Haa-Yawen is the city of Kerr'epytha, on the half side that is in his Duchy. In Kerr'epytha he has a Tower called Kiedapi (Tower of Beauty) in which he holds fetes and lavish entertainments as wonderful as can be imagined from one of the Lords of the most powerful resources in Hell.
However, Gresil is the lord of Corruption; everything he touches, be it fabric or material goods, tends to decay, quickly or slowly depending on its nature. He layers himself in clothing and opulent jewels so that his foppish desire for magnificence is satisfied; when one item decays away, there is another to take its place. Gresil's corruptive nature does not affect Fallen or Damned themselves...only static items in Hell. Gresil's corruptive nature is said to be exactly the effect seen all through Hell before the time of Lucifer's creation of the Crafts.
He's a Trade Lord gone mad; his tariffs are heavy, in order to feed his continuing appetite for opulence; he uses his position as lord over Base Pandemonium's wealth-seat to keep himself surrounded with rich items in the fashion to which he's accustomed. And he's always looking for a way to squeeze a bit more blood out of every stone.
Despite a foppish nature, Gresil is a consummate strategist, and his administrative talent is said to be the reason that Mammon raised him from a low-ranking Maggot Lord to be the Duke of a full half of Mammon's realm, and the richest half at that.
